A sustainable water project is about more than just infrastructure. It's about fostering community engagement to inspire, activate and sustain lasting change. In the Lazos de Agua Program, we work hand-in-hand with artists and community members to co-create solutions, facilitating a sense of ownership and empowerment at both the individual and community level. Discover how our approach sparked connections between changemakers across Latin America, from San José de Manantiales in Guanajuato, Mexico, to Tumaco, Colombia. 📽💧 https://lnkd.in/d9PyiSs3 #socialart #WASH #LazosdeAgua #communityempowerment

Improving living conditions in Latin America through water, social art and sustainability.
About us
The Lazos de Agua Program seeks to provide sustainable access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene to more than 200,000 people in Colombia, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua and Paraguay by December 2022. The Program is a multi-stakeholder partnership of One Drop Foundation, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Fundación FEMSA and The Coca-Cola Foundation. It is implemented through a systemic model which drives sustainable change in communities by providing or improving infrastructure, promoting key behaviors around water and sanitation though social art, and by fostering access to capital.

Did you know art can unlock sustainable solutions? Across Guanajuato, Mexico, a wave of women-led puppetry groups has emerged. Inspired by the #LazosdeAgua Program’s social art approach, these women are adopting puppetry to build their communities' capacity for safe water storage and treatment. To date, their performances have reached more than 4000 people, sparking a dialogue around water management and driving an expansion of water networks in some areas! Let's continue to harness the transformative power of art for a better, water-secure world. Explore our innovative approach: https://lnkd.in/gSRa8BEK #socialart #communityempowerment

Why is water crucial for preserving our future? According to a recent UNICEF report, 1 in 6 children in Latin America and the Caribbean now live in areas exposed to high or very high water scarcity, with climate change threatening to make this worse. Investing in sustainable water access is key to unlocking opportunities for millions, especially women and children, paving the way for healthier lives. Thanks to community members and our partners, Lazos de Agua is making this possible. Get inspired and involved : https://lnkd.in/eid7fFbR #WASH #SDG6 #communityempowerment

Situated in South America, the Guaraní Aquifer stands as one of the world's largest water reserves, surpassing the combined size of Spain and France. However, the challenge lies in maintaining its purity when drawn to the surface. This is why participants of the Y Kuaa project in Paraguay have embraced new practices, like water chlorination, to safeguard their communities' health. Tune in to "Entre dos Aguas" podcast to discover more about their journey, as community members and Lazos de Agua Program experts shed light on the essential commitments for sustainable water service provision. 💧🌍 Explore the episode here, in Spanish 👇 https://lnkd.in/d8PayJdc #WaterSustainability #GuaraniAquifer #CommunityHealth #LazosDeAgua #sdg6
